Developing High-Quality Performance Assessments

This workshop can be customized to address specific content areas or grade levels.

 

Karin lays the ground work for developing short and more in-depth performance tasks by defining the concept of “cognitive rigor” and using her Cognitive Rigor Matrix it to analyze content-specific examples of assessments (grades K-12). Then participants are invited to use her assessment “validation” tools and protocols to analyze and/or develop local assessments. Time is provided for instructional planning, plus strategies for piloting new performance tasks used as common interim and summative assessments and ways to benchmark student work can be included.
